Portnox Updates Security Platform to Include Subscription Plan Management

Portnox Security Platform Update Includes Subscription Plan Management

Security firm Portnox today launched an updated version of its security-as-a-service cloud platform that includes subscription plan management for organizations and managed service providers (MSPs).

The product, called Portnox Clear, monitors all endpoints in a network, both on- and off-premise, from the cloud. The new Spring Version builds on an earlier February update to help CISOs and network security administrators manage the growing risk for Internet of Things (IoT) and other constantly connected devices in real time.

“We took a very complicated idea and simplified it and made it possible for even smaller organizations to implement the best security practices of very large enterprises,” said Ofer Amitai, Portnox CEO and cofounder. “With the Spring Version, we are making that reach possible through MSPs, which will make it more available to the market.”

The update includes three new features. Service providers can purchase Clear and manage the service for their customers, or an individual organization can purchase and manage it on its own. “In addition, we’ve added the ability for the [MSPs] to rebrand it, so basically they can offer it as their own data security offering with the MSP logo and brand,” Amitai said.

It also includes certificate-based authentication in the cloud. This provides an authentication mechanism to devices wishing to attach to a local area network (LAN) or wireless local area network (WLAN), which makes users and devices on the enterprise network more secure. “And, again, it is all managed through the cloud,” Amitai said.

The third new feature is onboarding capabilities for guest access by text-based SMS. Portnox said this allows for simple and fast guest access onboarding and improved security.

The Israel-based security company opened shop in 2007. Amitai said since the product launch in February, customers in the U.S. and EMEA have deployed Portnox Clear. These customers are in the healthcare, education, financial, and technology sectors.

The security product updates comes as a new Gartner report suggests businesses are rethinking their security software strategy, and increasingly choosing as-a-service products.
