A Facebook ‘Dislike’ Button is Coming, Says CEO Mark Zuckerberg

It’s true — the long discussed and often rumored Facebook ‘dislike’ button is officially on the way.

This new came straight from CEO Mark Zuckerberg during one of his liveTown Hall Q&A’s today, where he also admitted the process of creating such a button is more complicated than most think.

However, he confirmed the company is currently working on and testing a dislike button. It will definitely be released at some point, but no time frame was given.

Zuckerberg explained that the decision to add a dislike button stems from the realization that people want to express other emotions.

That’s somewhat of an about face compared to what Zuckerberg said during a Q&A in December, where he said he was apprehensive about introducing a feature that would allow people to spread negativity.

What may have caused the Facebook CEO to change his stance on a dislike button is anyone’s guess. If nothing else, it has been a tremendous publicity move thus far. The buzz around this announcement is already being felt, and it will only escalate when the feature actually launches.
