The much-anticipated iOS 11.4 allows users to sync their text messages via their iCloud and also use their devices to wirelessly stream music to multiple speakers with the AirPlay 2 feature.
Among the most significant new features is the ability to sync text messages with Apple’s iCloud, which also means that older iMessages and SMS stored on Apple’s servers will only be retrieved when the user chooses. This frees up storage space on the device which can be especially advantageous for smaller-capacity iPhones.
If you use multiple iOS devices, you should now also be getting better notifications and not receiving the same update twice.

With AirPlay 2, iOS users will also be able to play music on multiple compatible devices at the same time, instead of using only one device. Apple lists Bang & Olufsen, Denon, Libratone, Marantz, Naim, Bose, Devialet, Bowers & Wilkins and Sonos devices as being suitable for AirPlay 2. Support for this feature has, however, so far only been announced and is not yet available.
When choosing speakers to use with their iOS device, users should look out for a logo that signifies that the equipment works with Apple AirPlay.
The update can be installed via the settings by going to “General” and “Software update”, it is around 340 megabytes in size. It can also be downloaded from iTunes if the iOS device is connected to the computer via USB cable. — dpa
