Activision reveals a brand new prologue trailer detailing the origin stories of each playable character in the Shadows of Evil Zombie mode for Call of Duty Black Ops 3

Treyarch’s massively popular Zombies mode is set to return this year in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and to help get the masses even more excited, a new prologue trailer has just released, giving fans a bit more insight into each of the four main characters. As revealed at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, the Shadows of Evil Zombie mode is set in the 1940s and features a noir style theme where players step into the shoes of one of four characters, played by either Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, or Ron Perlman.

Interestingly enough, the slick trailer reveals that each character is a killer of some sort, such as Goldblum’s character killing his wife over a huge debt, or Perlman’s boxer character using brass knuckles to kill his boxing opponents. The quartet eventually meet at a bar, and after being knocked out by a mysterious drink they are offered redemption in return for killing zombies. Based on the trailer alone, this new zombies campaign in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 appears to be putting a bigger focus on storytelling than previous entries.

Shadows of Evil makes up the third mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 alongside the campaign and multiplayer component. And yes, it will be included in last-gen as well.

Sadly, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 users, the campaign has been removed due to the hardware restrictions and incompatibility with the 4 player co-op campaign feature. Activision went on further to explain why the cuts were made in greater detail during a recent interview as well.

With the game less than a month away, Activision has set the marketing machine in motion by kicking off a weekly streaming event during the entire month of October. Each broadcast promises to reveal new information, hold informal Q & A sessions with developers, and even show off never before seen gameplay. The first stream, which took place this past week, detailed the ninth playable Specialist class, known as Firebreak, along with showing off a new map set in northern California called Redwood.
