Re/code reports that Facebook has partnered with Stripe to power a “Buy” button that will eventually be a part of the news feed. That’s the same service provided Twitter is using to power their Buy button, which just launched this month.

The Buy button will allow Facebook users to purchase items featured in ads or posts, which means marketers will have the ability to make sales directly on Facebook.

Re/code states Facebook began testing the Buy button back in July, and it’s still in the testing phase. A Facebook spokesperson confirmed That Stripe is the sole payments partner behind the test.

Stripe’s spokesperson declined to comment beyond confirming that there is indeed a partnership in place between Stripe and Facebook.

This is interesting to note because Facebook has partnerships with other payment providers on different features, such as PayPal’s mobile payments unit Braintree.

Facebook and Stripe have actually worked together before, partnering last year Facebook partnered with Stripe last year on project that lets Facebook users autofill their payment information from Facebook when using third-party apps.

Stripe is on a roll with partnerships as of late, landing Twitter and now Facebook. Re/code reports that they’re also a “highly recommended” payments partner for Apple when they launch their Apple Pay service.

It’s likely that Facebook’s test of the Buy button will ramp up as the holiday season gets closer, so expect to see it more frequently in your news feed.
