Huawei officially announced that its Nexus 6P Special Edition is ready to hit retail in India soon, launching exclusively on Flipkart.
The Nexus 6P made its debut a few months ago alongside the LG-made Nexus 5X, marking the first time Google released two Nexus smartphones in just one year. Huawei’s Nexus 6P is the more premium of the two, boasting a sleek design and high-end specs that raised plenty of interest.
The Nexus 6P launched in three color options – white, black, and silver – but later received a gold version that was called the Nexus 6P Special Edition. Gold has become a widely popular choice for smartphones ever since Apple introduced its gold iPhone 5s. A number of other OEMs followed suit, launching their own flagships in a stylish gold finish.
Google announced the Nexus 6P Special Edition back in early October, but at that time it was bound for only one market: Japan. Its exclusivity days are over, however, and India will be the next market to get the gold Nexus 6P, Huawei revealed.
Huawei will be offering the Nexus 6P Special Edition in India only through Flipkart, which will start taking preorders for the device at midnight on Dec. 21. For now, interested customers can register for more updates from Flipkart.
It seems the Huawei Nexus 6P was well-received in India so far, and the addition of a popular color option should further boost its appeal and help drive sales in the country.
As a reminder, the Nexus 6P is the first smartphone in Google’s lineup to boast a full-metal body, getting high praise for its design. In terms of hardware specs, the smartphone features a 5.7-inch QHD display (2,560 x 1,440 pixels), a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon processor backed up by 3 GB of RAM, a 3,450mAh battery, a 12.3-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter. A USB Type-C port is also in the mix.
