Staying true to their mission statement, Instagram has introduced a new app called Hyperlapse. Hyperlapse lets users capture high-quality time lapse videos even while in motion.
A traditional time lapse video typically rely on you holding the still while filming. Hyperlapse offer built-in stabilization technology that lets you create time lapse videos while on the movie.
Instagram promises that Hyperlapse will create videos that “result in a cinematic look, quality and feel”, which is something that they claim has previously only been possible with expensive equipment.
If you’re thinking “oh great, something else I need to sign up to now”, then you’re going to love Hyperlapse because you don’t even need to create an account in order to use the app.
With Hyperlapse you can open up the app and begin recording right away. Tap once to begin recording and tap again to stop. Choose a playback speed that you like between 1x-12x and tap the green check mark to save it to your camera roll. From there you can share your video on Instagram.
Hyperlapse is available right now for iOS devices — it is currently only available for iOS. There was no mention of an Android version being in the works, but as an Android owner myself I sure hope to see Hyperlapse to make its way to the Google Play store sooner than later.
