New ‘Mortal Kombat X’ DLC Brings Leatherface And A Xenomorph To The Fight

'Mortal Kombat X' DLC

The previously teased Mortal Kombat X downloadable content was finally revealed during The Game Awards, an awards show from the prominent Geoff Keighley. Technically it’d been leaked just a little bit early, but now it’s all official: the popular fighting game is getting four new DLC characters.

Of the four, two are essentially previous Mortal Kombat characters given new form. Bo Rai Cho, a martial arts drunken master, made his first appearance in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and Tri-Borg is merely a combination of previous characters Cyrax, Sektor, and Robot Smoke. How do they combine and why? That’s less important than the fact that it’s happening and now there’s a new fighter.

The other two are guest characters. Leatherface of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre makes his first Mortal Kombat appearance here, chainsaw included, and perhaps best of all: a Xenomorph from Alien. Well, kind of. This is a Xenomorph of a different breed, given that its host appears to have been a member of Baraka’s species, giving it arm blades in addition to the usual suite of natural weaponry.

The DLC, called Kombat Pack 2, is slated for 2016, so don’t expect to gift loved ones with the Leatherface fighter this Christmas. Mortal Kombat X released in April 2015 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions were planned but cancelled.
