Oculus Touch Release Delayed Until Later In 2016

Those chomping at the bit to get their hands on the Oculus Touch will have to wait just a little bit longer.

On Thursday, Oculus broke the sour New Year’s news that the release of the controller, intended for use in conjunction with the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, will be delayed until the second half of 2016.

Why? Well, Oculus is as honest as could be in stating that it simply needs “more time” to perfect the device, and shipping the product in the second half of next year will give it just that. The company adds that preorders for the Oculus Touch will be available a few months prior to its launch.

The Oculus Team writing Thursday’s news announcement did lead the public to believe that the delay of the Touch will well be worth the wait.

“On Touch hardware, we’ve made significant advances in ergonomics, and we’re implementing many changes that make Touch even more comfortable, reliable, and natural. We’re also implementing changes that improve hand pose recognition,” part of the announcement reads on the website. “We’re also outputting larger numbers of pre-production runs, which means we can get a lot more Touch hardware in the hands of developers who need it.”

In addition, Oculus vows to deliver groundbreaking content launched with Touch.

Patience is a virtue … or virtual reality. And the anticipation grows …
