Just in time for the holidays, Samsung announced a new treat for storage-hungry users: a Galaxy Note 5 Winter Special Edition with 128 GB of storage space.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is among the hottest devices of this year. The handset is part of Samsung’s fleet of flagship devices with high-end specs and all-around features.
With increasingly larger apps and games, as well as increasingly better cameras that can shoot in 4K and enable users to take piles of high-quality photos, many are inclined to choose higher-capacity versions to make sure they have enough space.
Having 128 GB of storage on a phone might have seemed ludicrous in the past, but today this amount of space is actually a convenience and a growing number of smartphones now come with plenty of built-in locker capacity.
Samsung is banking on the trend and now has a new Galaxy Note 5 Winter Special Edition in store, offering a hefty 128 GB of storage under the hood. The new model comes in Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium, popular colors that are also available for a 64 GB storage version.
The rest of the specifications remains unchanged compared with the original Galaxy Note 5, which means that the phablet sports the same 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and Gorilla Glass 4 for extra protection, a 2.1-GHz octa-core Exynos processor, and a 3,000 mAh battery, among the highlights.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Winter Special Edition with 128 GB of built-in storage will go on sale on Dec. 31 in Korea, selling through SKT and KT. The device will cost 990,000 KRE, which translates to roughly $846.
Samsung only announced this special edition for Korea at this time, making no mention of whether it plans to extend the same courtesy to other markets in the near future. Considering the popularity of the Galaxy Note 5 worldwide, however, Samsung may ultimately decide to offer the Winter Special Edition of the device in the U.S. and Europe as well. We’ll keep you up to date as soon as we hear anything in this regard, so stay tuned.
