Smartisan’s T2 Smartphone Goes For Metal Frame And Feel Over High-Powered Specs

Smartisan T2

Sometimes, it’s all in the look and feel.

That might have been the approach by Chinese smartphone manufacturer Smartisan, which introduced its all-new T2, nearly two years after its flagship T1 model launched with a splash.

What stands out about the T2? Its all-metallic frame, which doesn’t leave anything exposed … and Smartisan means anything. Turn the phone to its side or back and there’s no trace of the device’s power button or even a screw for that matter, as part of its aluminum frame. How many smartphones out there can boast the same?

Engadget claims that the metallic frame marks a first for Chinese smartphones and that the device’s bezel alone took 588 days of research and development to generate. Smartisan took the look and feel — not to mention, durability — of the smartphone even further by coating it in 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3.

The T2 is also equipped with a 13 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front-facing camera, with a 2,670 mAh battery powering the unit.

Under the 4.95-inch screen and 1920 by 1080 pixel display lays a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.

The smartphone also features Bluetooth 4.1 connection capability and can be used on a Chinese 4G LTE network.

The T2 will retail for about $385 in China. Whether it makes its way to the United States remains to be seen.
