With the year 2015 coming to an end, most of the biggest titles in the gaming scene have rolled out. The Xbox One got the Halo 5: Guardians and the PlayStation 4 got Bloodborne. What’s more, the two platforms got Fallout 4.
For both platforms, the 2016 lineup is a different beast altogether, where even more original games and installments are coming to sweep up the industry.
PlayStation 4
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
The latest upcoming installment to the Uncharted franchise is coming in March, and it’s definitely one of the front-runners of the PlayStation 4.
No Man’s Sky
This title is on virtually everyone’s must-have list for the PlayStation 4. The possibilities and explorative aspects – countless planets in an infinite universe and all that – arguably make it the most anticipated game for the console.
The Last Guardian
Shadow of Colossus is considered one of the best games ever to launch on the PlayStation 2, and it’s finally getting a follow-up after 10 years. Based on the trailer, it seems that it’ll meet fans’ expectations.
Street Fighter V
Technically, it’s not a PlayStation 4 exclusive, as it’ll also have a PC version, but it certainly deserves a spot in the list. One of the most notable changes is that the Focus Attack on Street Fighter IV is getting swapped out for new V-Gauge abilities, not to mention that the game will support cross-platform play between PC and PlayStation 4 players.
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Described by the game’s developers as post-post-apocalyptic, the setting seems to be somewhat like the Stone Age riddled with debris and scraps of what used to be the modern world. On top of the interesting environment, the robot dinosaurs just make the cake all the sweeter.
Xbox One
Gears of War 4
The game remains one of the best titles that can represent the Xbox console, even though it may have dwindled down the list of must-haves.
Quantum Break
Developed by the people behind Max Payne and Alan Wake, it seems to be a promising title.
Crackdown 3
The game will deliver, and it will deliver well. The trailer says it all.
ReCore
Not much is known about the title, but based on the trailer, action and rifles along with a loyal cyborg pet whose “soul” can be transferred to another robot equates to one heck of a game.
Tacoma
The makers of Gone Home bring Tacoma to the table, which means that it’ll be a rich game without a doubt.
Multiplatform
Now that the exclusives have been covered, here’s a short list of the hottest games on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One:
Dark Souls III
Dishonored 2
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Far Cry Primal
Doom
Final Fantasy XV
Mafia III
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst
