Brand new gameplay for Activision’sCall of Duty: Black Ops 3‘s Zombies mode releases, and reveals the shooting franchise’s famous Ray Gun weapon in action.
As seen below, Arekkz Gaming has posted fresh footage for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3‘s Shadows of Evil Zombies campaign, showing gamers how to obtain and wield the series’ classic Ray Gun. In order to find the weapon, players must be lucky enough to have it given to them by way of random selection from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3‘s mystery boxes scattered throughout the map.
Locating the mystery boxes are quite an easy feat. Should fans be unsatisfied with their current weapon of choice and wish to roll the dice with a different gun, all they need to do is look at the sky to see a tall blue beacon of light indicating the crate’s location.
The Ray Gun is one of Call of Duty‘s most iconic firearms, and many would argue that the weapon ranks as the game’s zaniest, considering it adds yet another layer of levity to an already eccentric franchise. It’s been utilized in most of the titles in the series, ranging from World at War through all of the Black Ops releases. While it’s been rumored that Treyarch’s forthcoming FPS contains a Mark III version of the gun, today’s gameplay only shows off a previously seen model of the alien-tech sidearm.
Yesterday, an in-game recording of Black Ops 3‘s Zombies gameplay leaked, revealing nearly 20 minutes of action from the title’s Shadows of Evil noir narrative, so today’s coverage of the Ray Gun ought to further add to Call of Duty fans’ excitement for its release this Friday. After all, with a Nielsen poll finding that the FPS is the most anticipated game of Fall 2015, most anything related to the shooter should send its fan base into a hype-filled frenzy.
While Treyarch is promising fans that Black Ops 3‘s story details are “really screwed up” and worthy of attention, it’s obvious that the game’s major draw will be Zombies and the multiplayer. Bearing that in mind, developers have undoubtedly been listening to the community, as the studio used player feedback from the multiplayer beta to help with changes that will make the title better.
Furthermore, Black Ops 3‘s development team is also catering to diehards, by adding well-liked staples from the series such as the Nuketown map and the popular Gun Game mode. So, with the Ray Gun being the latest throwback item divulged, it’s crystal clear that Treyarch knows how to please its fans.
