r being the subject of rumors in the past, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is spotted in a product list on a retailer’s website. The listing highlighted the full specifications of the new smartphone.
Just last week, it was said that the Mi 5 will be unwrapped in January 2016, but not during the CES which will kick off in Las Vegas, Nevada. Specifically, it is going to be unveiled on Jan. 21, based on renders that emerged over the Web.
The page on Oppomart’s site laid out the full specs of the new handset Xiaomi is bringing in to the crowded smartphone market.
As of press time, t the Oppomart link has been pulled down. GSM Arena, however, managed to take a screenshot of the leaked details.
The much-anticipated device will come packed with a 5.5-inch screen and 2,560 x 1,440 display. While the page did not include details on the panel technology, it is presumed that the Mi 5 is going to be equipped with an IPS LCD, based on Xiaomi’s track record.
Apart from having 4GB of RAM, the handset will have three onboard memory options: 16GB, 64GB and 128GB.
What’s more, this smartphone will rock Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820, which will make it pretty impressive. The Mi 5 will be powered by a 3,800mAh battery.
In terms of its camera, the phone will tout a 20-megapixel main snapper and an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter.
What’s notable is its MIUI 7 user interface, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The page, however, listed that it will boast MIUI 6, thought it could merely be a typo error.
Interested buyers will be given two color options to choose from: white and classic black.
A previous rumor, courtesy of China UnionPay, also suggests that the Mi 5 will come with NFC connectivity alongside support for the Cloud Lightning Pay service in China.
There is also a possibility that the smartphone will have a physical home button.
It is worth noting that the listing indicated a price for the handset, which is $599. Considering there is still no official word from Xiaomi, it is likely that the price is only a placeholder and it could still change.
At any rate, this phone is likely to sweep up the market when it’s released.
