Microsoft is all set for its upcoming event on May 2, something that could include a Microsoft Surface Windows 10 Cloud laptop. With the focus on software expected, possibly stealing the spotlight is the anticipated mobile solution that could take aim at Google and its Chromebook.
The upcoming event was originally pegged to focus on the software and the Microsoft’s efforts to entice people to try out their Windows 10 Cloud. With the introduction of this cloud computing solution, the end result is the eventual shift to lower cost technology, albeit calling out what Google has done with the Chromebook clan, Forbes reported.
The anticipated Microsoft Surface Windows 10 Cloud laptop would thus be something new and not a burden to the budget-centric buyer. Only a handful of updates headlined by the shift to an Intel Kaby Lake chipset could make sense.
Among the leaked specs were first reported by Windows Central. Aside from the possible shift to Intel Kaby Laker, the Microsoft Surface Windows 10 Cloud laptop could come out with a quad-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, and a battery that can reportedly last for at least 10 hours a day.
Comparing those specs with the discontinued Microsoft Surface 3, the leaked specs are slightly higher and thus tease of a potential refreshed Surface 3 style device. If these are indeed the plans of the Redmond company, should Google be alarmed?
The answer to that will come next week when the Microsoft event gets underway. Google has so far been successful with the low-cost cloud computing solution on its end and it seems only normal that other brands would try to dig in an attempt to get a share of the market through a possible Microsoft Surface Windows 10 Cloud laptop.
Be reminded as well that the only thing certain for now is the push for the Windows 10 Cloud shift. If there is room to reveal a device, expect something low-cost and different on May 2.
