Welcome to the Wasteland, Rocket League-ers. The Chaos Run DLC for Rocket League is coming.
A soccer game with cars as players can only stay refreshingly playable for so long, but this Wasteland-inspired DLC changes things up in ways previous DLCs haven’t before.
Surprisingly enough, for a game based on the original sleeper hitSupersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, Rocket League has sustained its popularity throughout the year. Surpassing five million downloads on PS4s and PCs (with over one million copies sold over Steam alone), Psyonix’s latest DLC for the game should keep interest high.
Coming to PlayStation 4 and PC sometime in December, the Chaos Run DLC is coming right around the same time as Sony’s PlayStation Experience community event so there may even be more coming up for Rocket League than what’s been teased so far.
This upcoming DLC based on the Wasteland will also be getting a hefty dose of Mad Max-style level design, items, and more inspired by a theme involving the end of the world. The $3.99 DLC introduces two new vehicles, Ripper and Grog. It’s not on the same level as the last DLC’s addition of the “Back To The Future’s” DeLorean, but there will also be 12 new decals and two new wheels (all split evenly between Ripper and Grog).
There’s more, of course. Two new Paint Types will be available (Camo and Sun-Damaged) along with two new Rocket Trails (Sandstorm, Nut and Bolts). Three new Toppers (Boombox, Cow Skull, and Mohawk) along with three new Antennas (Bomb Pole, Radioactive, Retro Ball – Wasteland) and five new Trophies round out the extras in the Chaos Run DLC.
As a free update for all Rocket League players, Psyonix is introducing an all new arena aptly named Wasteland. The Wasteland arena is based on Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, being the series’ first “non-regulation” play space.
Other freebies include music from Kevin Riepel and a bunch of yet unnamed new items for player’s garages. Nonetheless, there’s still even more coming but Psyonix has just teasingly stated that “additional announcements” are coming soon – they just won’t say what exactly what those are but more is always better. The trailer below says it best.
