Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro to Reunite
Metal Gear Solid video game producer Hideo Kojima and award-winning film director Guillermo del Toro are scheduled to reunite for the first time since their ill-fated days working on Silent Hills. The pair will speak together for this year’s D.I.C.E. Summit on February 18th, and although Kojima iscontractually obligated to stay quiet about his time with Konami, one wonders if questions related to their work with the studio may be brought up.
The duo are there to offer insights into their creative process, and the session will be moderated by none other than Geoff Keighley from The Game Awards. The D.I.C.E. summit was broadcast last year on Twitch, and while that isn’t confirmed for 2016, it’s likely a safe bet that interested gamers will be able to tune into this conversation online.
The Division Beta Comes To A Close
Ubisoft held a closed beta for The Division which brought in more users than the company was ready to handle, but it looks like most fans walked way impressed by the dense and danger-filledstreets of New York.
While the game is getting plenty of comparisons to Destiny – even if it shouldn’t – those who missed out on the beta may be in luck, as the studio may be planning on an open beta later this month ahead of the game’s release.
Tom Clancy’s The Division is scheduled to release on March 8th for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
DOOM Gets A Release Date
Official confirmation about the speculated release date for the long-awaited return of the Doomfranchise was finally granted, revealing that players will be able to get gory on May 13th this year. The announcement also came with a wonderfully brutal campaign trailer, which provides the first glimpse at what the single player aspect of the series revival will bring to the table.
Players should expect to in for quite the challenge when they partake in the upcoming title, and we have no doubt veterans of the series can confirm it isn’t for the faint of heart.
DOOM will be launching for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 13th.
There Might Be A New Conker Game In The Works
Several hidden Windows Store listings may have leaked the fact that Microsoft is potentially working on a new Conker game. The leak comes courtesy of NeoGAF users, who stumbled onto several applications within the store that weren’t meant for public eye. One of these applications was calledYoung Conker, indicating that the title may be a prequel to Conker’s Bad Fur Day.
The leak has been met with absolutely no comment from Microsoft, so gamers should take this news with a hefty grain of salt. That said, the existence of the Fractures application within the same leak does lend the Young Conker theory some credibility, since Microsoft had already shown a brief glimpse of that app’s existence during one of their HoloLens demonstrations.
Fans Are Petitioning For Danny DeVito To Voice Detective Pikachu
Short and stout film star Danny DeVito is quite a character, and anyone who has watched him on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will know him for his outlandish, crass character. This may not scream Nintendo material to some, but a recent petition for DeVito to provide the voice of the title star inDetective Pikachu has appeared nonetheless. The petition recently took off, and it looks like the crossover between Pokemon fans and DeVito fans has some serious carrying power.
The petition has reached over 44,000 signatures to date, and is closing in on the ambitious 50,000 target that was set by the petition’s founder. The veteran actor would bring an astounding amount of star power to Detective Pikachu, and we have to admit, we’d love for it to happen.
Detective Pikachu sprang into action February 3rd in Japan, but without any confirmation of a North American release date, there’s always hope for a DeVito-filled videogame.
