IndependenceIT has announced an update to its Cloud Workspace Suite (CWS) platform. CWS version 4.2 brings deeper integrations and connectivity into public cloud architectures, including Azure, and delivers increased controls for managing resource allocation by IT service providers.
Cloud Workspace Suite is a workspace-as-a-service (WaaS) application that allows channel partners such as independent software vendors (ISVs) and managed service providers (MSPs) to provide a virtual desktop and software choices to their customers.
Version 4.2 brings the power of Microsoft Azure cloud services directly into the WaaS service. Azure cloud services can be provisioned directly through CWS, with components such as compute resources, networks, storage and virtual machines accessible through a component-style implementation. By using these components as building blocks for the Azure services, CWS partners can work with Azure by using the automation platform from Azure, without leaving the CWS environment. This speeds up the provisioning of services and reduces the need for learning to navigate and automate the Azure environment on their own.
Compute provisioning and auto-scaling in the new version are also improved. By categorizingcustomers based on needs, compute resources can auto-scale to meet the demands of more advanced computation workloads.
Along with more flexible and granular controls on the hardware resources, application entitlements have also been refined. IndependenceIT already had an extensive application catalog where customers could opt into applications as services, getting automatic delivery and enabling of cloud provisioned software such as Office and Goldmine. IndependenceIT Elite Partners and enterprise IT managers can now customize the application catalogs so that their service offerings can be delivered more effectively to verticals and can prevent customers from getting overwhelmed by the number of application choices. Currently, there are over 1,000 applications available to CWS users.
“Our partners realize that the ability to customize their solutions on Cloud Workspace Suite software platform is an important competitive advantage, helping them to remove the barriers to gaining the full value WaaS,” said Seth Bostock, CEO, IndependenceIT. “Version 4.2 is another leap forward and addresses key limitations that are found in legacy alternatives. Our partners have validated these most recent enhancements and understand the value they provide.”
