In the wake of the new CG story trailer for Injustice 2, NetherRealm Studios reveals a Digital Deluxe and Ultimate version of the game which adds new characters and more content.
After revealing Suicide Squad members Harley Quinn and Deadshot a few months ago, Injustice 2just about disappeared from the public eye, much to the dismay of fans. With people clamoring for new information and character reveals, NetherRealm Studios finally delivered a brand new CG trailer centered around the story while also confirming a number of new characters to the roster as well. In addition, the trailer also revealed multiple versions of the game, each containing new content such as future downloadable characters, armor shaders, and more digital goodies.
Following the story trailer, preorder pages went live which helped to reveal the existence of a Digital Deluxe and Ultimate edition of Injustice 2. According to the official website, fans willing to spend a bit more than the base price will gain access to some unique extra content. The Ultimate version of the game retails for $99.99 though it does offer the most content. Within it, players gain access to nine downloadable content characters, two exclusive shader packs called Defender and Destroyer, as well as three premier skins.
The premier skins included in this bundle are for The Flash, Supergirl, and Green Lantern. According to the description, applying these unique skins completely changes the look of the character and along with their voice and dialogue. The Flash skin changes the character into his arch-nemesis Reverse Flash, Supergirl becomes Powergirl, and Green Lantern Hal Jordan becomes Green Lantern John Stewart. It’s entirely possible that more will be released over time, offering a fresh spin on an existing character rather than adding a clone to the roster.
The Digital Deluxe version is a slimmer version and only offers three future downloadable fighters, the exclusive Defender shader, and the Powergirl premier skin. This version retails for $79.99 and is only available digitally leaving retail fans with only the base or ultimate versions. Much like Goro with Mortal Kombat X, players willing to preorder the game prior to its May launch date will also unlock early access to the villain Darkseid.
While getting new story details and more information about future content plans, many fans are still chomping at the bit to learn who else NetherRealm Studios has on the final roster. The impressive CG trailer revealed additional Batman characters such as Bane, Poison Ivy, and Robin, while seemingly confirming that the big bad pulling the strings is Brainiac. Even with a gameplay reveal planned for next week on the official NetherRealm Twitch channel, many fans are wondering when they’ll see some of the rumored characters finally appear such as Sub-Zero and Spawn or Ed Boon’s favorite character tease, Red Hood.
