Xbox head Phil Spencer has taken to microblogging site Twitter to confirm that Microsoft will be announcing backward-compatible games for the Xbox One every month.

On being asked by a fan on Twitter when the next list of Xbox 360 titles that will be compatible with the Xbox one will be released, Spencer merely let on that the backward compatibility titles for the Xbox One will be a monthly affair. He did not give a specific date for the release of the next batch of games. He also did not shed light on the number of titles that will be announced as part of the monthly list.

Earlier in November, Microsoft introduced the New Xbox One Experience, which is basically an upgrade for the Xbox One — a free one at that — and brings not only a redesigned user interface but also backward compatibility. While users have already benefited from over a hundred backward-compatible Xbox 360 titles for the Xbox One, more games are expected to get the compatibility.

Currently, Microsoft has a Games with Gold program where gamers can take advantage of Xbox 360 titles that are backward compatible.

Earlier in October, Microsoft confirmed the lineup of titles which would be available as a free download for Xbox Live Gold users in November. The titles are as follows:

Xbox One: Pneuma: Breath of Life (entire November) and Knight Squad (Nov. 16 to Dec. 15)

Xbox 360: DiRT 3 (Nov. 1 to Nov. 15) and Dungeon Siege (Nov. 16 to Nov. 30)

In a blog post earlier this week, Microsoft confirmed that the following titles would be available in December for free as part of the Games with Gold program:

Thief – Dec. 16 to Jan. 15, 2016
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing – Dec. 16 to Jan. 15, 2016
CastleStorm – Dec. 1 to Dec. 15
Sacred 3 – Dec. 16 to Dec. 31
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising – free from second half of December

It seems that the monthly backward compatibility title announcements from Microsoft will be similar to the Games with Gold program list it releases once in four weeks. Spencer was also asked by a fan if any boxing title would also be getting Xbox One backward compatibility to which he answered in the negative.
