‘Shadow Complex’ Is Now Free To Download For PC, Coming To The PS4, Xbox One

Shadow Complex Remastered

Back in 2009, Shadow Complex rolled out exclusively on the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade, winning more than 50 Game of the Year and Editor’s Choice Awards. Now, Epic Games has officially announced that the successful title is going to land on other platforms as well, with the aptly given moniker Shadow Complex Remastered.

Chair Entertainment in collaboration with Epic Games developed the original Shadow Complex using the widely used Unreal Engine 3, and Microsoft Game Studios published the game. Also, Peter David, “Star Trek” novelist and comic book writer, created the rich script for the platform-adventure title, all in all making one heck of a game.

The remastered version will keep all of the content of the first game, and it will have additional Achievements and Master Challenges. On top of those, it will also have improved overall graphics and all new dynamic takedowns, resulting in a somewhat “old-school” type of game with a ton of the good stuff that modern technology has to offer.

“I think that 2D game design hit its pinnacle in Super Metroid, which came out in 1994. This was right near the end of the Super Nintendo. Right before the PlayStation came out, before the Nintendo 64 came out, before games became all about 3D,” Donald Mustard, cofounder and creative director, tells Mashable.

Shadow Complex Remastered will officially launch on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016, and as a clincher, the developers have the fans in mind for the holiday, as the PC version of the game is available for free on the Shadow Complex website until Dec. 31.
“Bringing Shadow Complex to a larger audience of gamers across multiple platforms has always been one of our goals at Chair. We’re super excited to introduce a remastered version to fans, old and new, and for the opportunity it creates for us to do more in the Shadow Complex universe,” Mustard says in a statement.Back in 2009, Shadow Complex rolled out exclusively on the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade, winning more than 50 Game of the Year and Editor’s Choice Awards.
