Arguably the Xbox One’s biggest exclusive this holiday season, Halo 5: Guardians is not only expected to give the second place console a sizable bump in sales, but might also redeem the efforts of developer 343 Industries whichstruggled through a disastrous few months after releasingThe Master Chief Collection.
While marketing efforts have focused on the struggle between Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris, Halo 5: Guardiansalso promises to throw Master Chief’s longtime enemies from the Covenant into the mix as well. Fans will notice a few changes to the faction within this game however as a number of familiar vehicles will look and behave slightly different this time.
In an official post on the Halo Waypoint blog, Halo 5: Guardians writer, Jeff Easterling, revealed that several alien vehicles have been redesigned and given fresh aesthetics for the upcoming shooter. While the story mainly focuses on the conflict between Master Chief and Agent Jameson Locke, the Covenant are also going through a civil war on their home planet of Sanghelios. Previously revealed in a gameplay trailer, the civil war has caused old factories to reopen as both sides engage in an arms race against one another.
In addition to the updated visuals for each of the vehicles, the rides have also been given new tweaks to their functionality. For example, the Banshee aircraft now offers better protection with an energy shield equipped by default while the Ghost rapid attack vehicle has been enhanced with “greater level of protection and higher performance.” Finally, the Wraith plasma tank has been given an updated look and is also a bit smaller and more agile than previous versions seen in past games. The newly designed vehicles can be seen below.
