Romain Jerome Unveils $19,000 Watch For The Hardcore Mario Fan

Romain Jerome "Super Mario Bros." Watch

Watchmaker Romain Jerome has unveiled a limited edition Super Mario Bros. Watch that hardcore fans of the massive popular Nintendo character will truly appreciate.

The watch costs $19,000 though, which could drastically lessen the number of people that would be in the market for it. Still, the Super Mario watch is still a piece of art that any fan of the franchise could admire.

The watch is the fourth video game-themed one made by Romain Jerome, following the Pac-Man watch, the Space Invaders watch an the Tetris watch. The watchmaker released the piece this year to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Entertainment System, which is the first game in the franchise.

While Mario has been seen in games released before Super Mario Bros. for the NES, it was this title that catapulted the mushroom-gobbling, princess-saving plumber into superstar status. Released in 1985, the 2D side scroller opened Mario’s path into the history books.

The Super Mario watch by Romain Jerome captures the nostalgia of playing Super Mario Bros. for the NES through the colorful details on the watch. The watch face has 3D pixel-style figurines of a mushroom, a bush and a cloud from the game, along with a jumping Mario.

The watch also features an automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve, which is not at all fancy, but also completely not the reason why anybody would be purchasing this timepiece. The watch will also come with a Moon Invader-style case in PVD-coated black titanium, and will feature lugs that move along with its strap to help in forming a better fit.

Inspired by the year 1985, which is the release of Super Mario Bros. for the NES, there will only be 85 pieces of the Romain Jerome Super Mario watch. Hardcore fans who are willing to spend $19,000 to own this watch will have a unique, nostalgic piece of art on their wrists.
