Snapchat is a photo-sharing platform based on disappearing content which has built its empire on a sense of urgency and a unique premise – and is unlike its social media peers. Because each Snap – a user’s picture or video message – is only available for one to 10 seconds, once it’s viewed, it disappears from the platform, (seemingly) forever. There are ways around that, of course, but we’ll talk more about that later.
Snapchat’s available for iOS and Android and has been on the market since 2011. It now has more than 100 million daily active users, and 9,000 Snaps are posted every second. For companies interested in marketing and reaching out to the Snapchat population with coupons, discounts, or exclusive content, this infographic will guide you through the basics and show you how to build your company’s Snapchat following.
